In the second half of the 20th and early 21st centuries many new states have proclaimed their independence. But the declaration of sovereignty was not equivalent to a wide international recognition. Some of the formally independent countries continue to remain "on the side" of international life and can not escape from the vicious circle of poverty and underdevelopment.
Kazakhstan and its Leader were prepared for another, far more enviable fate. Due to the strong socio-political and economic reforms and foreign policy initiatives in two decades of Independence, Nursultan Nazarbayev and the Republic of Kazakhstan joined the rank of real actors in the world politics.
Kazakhstan is becoming an increasingly significant player on the international arena. President Nursultan Nazarbayev is a constant participant of the most important conferences and forums of the world. The President of Kazakhstan delivers speech at such high-level meetings as UN General Session, Nuclear Security Summit, World Economic Forum in Davos, etc. Moreover, our country hosted high-level events. An illustration of it is the OSCE Summit in Astana held in December 2010, the 38th Session of the OIC Ministerial Council in June, 2011, and others.
The President of Kazakhstan also initiated a series of forums that gather the most representative participants and compel the international community’s attention. In particular, the Astana Economic Forum, the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the Eurasian Media Forum, sessions of the Council of Foreign Investors and others.
The participation of world leaders in these events improves the image and reputation of Kazakhstan, as well as promotes cooperation with other countries in the world.
